Jun 12 (BAN/CD): An Asian taxi driver returned Dhs 10,00 left behind by a passenger to the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) police.

Kushu Ibrahim, the taxi driver, is an honest man, said Brigadier Abdullah Ali Menakhas, Acting Director General of the Police Operations, RAK Police.

The RAK police routinely honours taxi drivers who return valuable items to their rightful owners.

"Those honest cabbies, who are from different nationalities, are honoured for setting a shiny model for others."

A report of missing money was filed by the passenger, which helped the RAK police to track them down and return the money, said Brig Menakhas.

The passenger thanked the honest driver and RAK police as he did not believe he got the money he lost so fast.

Brig Menakhas urged taxi passengers to pay attention to the colour of the taxi and the driver's uniform as every company has a distinct colour.

"They should also keep the receipt of the tariff to better identify the taxi and find the items lost in a short time," he said.

Kushu Ibrahim, the driver said that honesty is something that he has never compromised in his life, no matter the ups and downs.

"Honesty is above everything for me. I could not even imagine keeping that money which did not belong to me," he added.
