London 18 July 2019 - In what's believed to be the first list of its kind, British Asia News' motoring correspondent, Shahzad Sheikh, has created a list of the most Desi Drives in automotive history.
Taking a global perspective and basing his findings on personal and anecdotal evidence, professional motoring journalist Sheikh (also known as the #BrownCarGuy), has compiled the Top 7 cars that are most beloved of Asian car owners and drivers in the subcontinent, the Western world and the Middle East.
'It wouldn't be right to just focus on stats alone,' explained Sheikh 'although car sales volumes are massive - just in India and Pakistan combined, 3.65m cars were sold in 2018.'
'However I wanted to focus on what cars have played a cruicial role in the Asian diaspora carscape through time, and how we relate to them. There are certainly models that immediately stand out, like the Hindustan Ambassador in India, the Toyota Corolla in Pakistan, and the Nissan Sunny in the UK.'
Sheikh has published the full list of Asian driver's most popular cars on DriveTribe.com, the website founded by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Click here to see the full list now and see if your favourites made it on there.
