Dhaka, July 11 (BAN/ AD): Asaduzzaman Khan Home Minister on Thursday informed the parliament that a total of 294 Bangladeshis were killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in last 10 years. The issue was raised by BNP MP Md Harunur Rashid for which home minister presented the statistics.
In year 2019 66 Bangladeshi’s were killed which is highest and lowest being 2018 where 3 were killed. HM also told the parliament the Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) has been taking steps to stop the border killings by BSF.
The minister said "The government is also taking necessary measures at diplomatic level in this regard." He also said that by talks with BSF the matter will be resolved soon and killings will be brought down to zero.
As per statistics presented by Home Minister, at least 66 Bangladeshi nationals were killed along the Bangladesh-India border in 2009, 55 in 2010, 24 each in 2011 and 2012, 18 in 2013, 24 in 2014, 38 in 2015, 25 in 2016, 17 in 2017 and only three in 2018.
Minister also said "Modern cameras and surveillance system will be set up gradually in these sensitive areas."
