Rawalpindi, June 12 (BAN/ AD): Prime Minister Imran Khan said that it was high time for the nation to "stop glorifying" money launderers who cause damage to the country and its poor citizens. He tweeted on this saying corrupt people are "seeking refuge behind 'democracy'" — he made this remark targeting members of the main opposition PML-N and PPP parties, of which most of them are facing corruption and money laundering cases.
He further added "Where [in the world] are plunderers of public wealth given such special treatment?"
He accused governments of the PPP and PML-N who took Rs24 trillion loans during the last decade and pushed nation towards the verge of bankruptcy. Pakistan saw major arrests in last 2 days - Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz by the National Accountability Bureau and MQM founder Altaf Hussain by London police and former president Asif Ali Zardari was also arrested by NAB.
He also said “Now I am ordering the establishment of a high-powered commission to ascertain what happened in the last decade and to bring to justice all those involved in bringing Pakistan to this condition.”
