Malinga takes leave from World Cup duty, to fly home for mother-in-law's funeral

London, Jun 12(BAN/CD): According to a Reuters report, due to the death of Lasith Malinga's mother-in-law, the cricket player will travel back home after the match against Bangladesh in Bristol.

Kanthi Perera's funeral will be held on Thursday in Colombo.

The team is confident that Malinga will be back to play against Australia at the Oval on Saturday.
Malinga's performance in the World Cup so far has been mixed. He scored 46 runs in five overs in the 10-wicket defeat match against New Zealand but redeemed the match against Afghanistan in the 34-run victory by scoring 3-39.
