Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith unanimously nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by Lankan Govt, Opposition

Colombo, May 12 (BAN) : Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has been collectively recommended by the Government and Opposition Members of Parliament for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Cardinal’s efforts in maintaining peace during the Easter Sunday bombings have been lauded by all Parliamentarians despite their differences in religion and parties.

UPFA MP Mahinda Amaraweera, Non-Cabinet Minister Radhakrishnan and UNP-MP Harshana Rajakaruna voiced these statements and were backed by all those present in the House.

The Parliamentarians have offered complete support in awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cardinal for his impartiality towards any religion or race during and after the disaster while spreading the word of peace across society.
