Birmingham: The Republic Day was celebrated in Birmingham, simultaneously with other consulates in the UK - London, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
Prominent businessmen government uniformed officials from the Police and Specialist Engagement teams from the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy were in attendance at the event.
The Consul General Dr Aman Puri read out the Republic Day speech by the President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. This was followed by the hoisting the Indian flag.
Guests heard patriotic songs and recited patriotic poems on their motherland.
The Republic Day of India, celebrated on the 26 January, honours the day when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950, replacing the Government of India Act as the governing document in India, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.
