London: Every year, London school children are invited to take part in the Mayor of London's Christmas card competition.
This year they received over 1,000 entries from schools across London. They were very impressed with the standard of entries and the creativity of young Londoners. It made it very hard to pick a winner.
This year's competition winner is Diza D'Silva, 13, from St Gregory's Catholic Science College. A card featuring her winning design has been sent to dignitaries across the world, including the Queen!
Diza's prize included a personal Christmas card signed by the Mayor and a £100 gift voucher from Cass Art, the UK's leading art supplies retailer.
Diza's dad Michael told British Asia News that on the first week of December Diza received the letter from the Mayors office stating that Diza had won the competition.
With the letter came a official invitation for the felicitating event function held on 17th December at the Southwark Cathedral. At this event Diza was awarded the first signed official card from the Mayor Sadiq Khan, a certificate a gift voucher, photo session with the Mayor, her dad and teachers
Diza told British Asia News she was very happy of the involvement, generosity and the hospitality provided by the Mayor of London and his office. The school website also proudly announced and mentioned Diaz fantastic achievement on the school website and the school news letter.
