London 3 April 2020 - It's a tough time for automotive enthusiasts who find themselves in lockdown at home just as the season for car events, great drives, and working on your classic car was due to start. However there's plenty of content online to keep you engaged - including the latest offering from MotorTrend On Demand - which is currently offering UK customers a free 14-day trial.
In addition to a large catalogue of car shows, the latest offering is 'Hard Cell' hosted by TV motoring journalist Tom 'Wookie' Ford. The series looks at the advent of the electric vehicle now that almost all the major manufacturers and dealers are offering EVs as part of their model ranges.
The questions asked by the show include: Does the EV supercar actually exist? Can an EV ever be an icon? Can you have a proper adventure with no plug in sight? Is motorsport still fun when it’s silent? All questions particularly pertinent to the car fan that's still sceptical about the merits and desirability of battery-powered automobiles.
There are four episodes over the course of which the self-confessed ‘car nerd’ will interview those in the know, drive the cars that matter, and deliver a verdict on whether or not they measure up. The episodes cover: Does the EV supercar actually exist? Can an EV ever be an Icon? Can you have a proper adventure with no plug in sight? Is motorsport still fun when it's silent?
The brand new series is set to premiere from Sunday 12th April and will be part of the MotorTrend App’s ultimate collection of motoring content which includes: Ant Anstead Master Mechanic, Mike Brewer's World of Cars, Roadkill, Wheeler Dealers, For the Love of Cars, Fifth Gear, Top Gear America and Flipping Bangers. MotorTrend On Demand claims to offer nearly 4000 hours of automotive content.
