Bangladesh: Latest news has revealed that the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College has sacked it’s Acting Principle Nazneen Ferdous and the two other teachers in question, following two days of protests surrounding the death of a student, Aritry Adhikary. The two teachers responsible for the morning shift in-charge were Zinat Akhtar and class teacher Hasna Hena.
The institution’s governing body took the decision to fire them after an emergency meeting following government orders today (Wednesday 05). The father of the ninth grader, Dilip Adhikary had already started a case against the three accusing them of instigating the girl to take her own life.
Earlier today, the government had also cancelled the facilities the three in question had been privy to under its monthly pay order or MPO programme.
“We did exactly what the education ministry asked us to do,” Mushtari Sultana, a teacher representative in the governing body, told local news after the meeting. The education ministry has also asked police and Rapid Action Battalion to act against them following the case started by Dilip Adhikary.
Mushtari Sultana also announced that the School has deferred Wednesday’s annual exams to Dec 11 and Thursday’s exams will be held on Friday.
