London (BAN/SL) There is something truly amazing happening the night of Saturday 7th! The Worlds Big Sleep is one off global event to help fight the plight of homelessness around the world…Please spend a couple of minutes watching the video links below. On Saturday 7th December The World's Big Sleep Out will take place in 50 locations worldwide with an aim of raising $50million, which will be invested to sustainably help around 1,000,000 homeless and displaced people all over the world. It hopes to be the largest charitable fundraising campaign in a generation. Here is an example of one of the projects that have previously benefited from their fundraising initiatives.Thousands of people to sleep out to bring an end to homelessness and supported by performances from artists including Rag’n’Bone Man, Tom Walker, Jake Bugg, The Script and Travis as well as Meghan Trainor and Ellie Goulding in L.A. As well as benefiting local charities in each locality, international partners for the campaign include UNICEF USA, Malala Fund and the Institute of Global Homelessness. Global Homelessness shows that figures have reached a new level with more than a 100 million people homeless and displaced around the world including 125,000 children in England alone without a place to call home. Action is urgently needed.Will Smith and Dame Helen Mirren have signed up to tell a bedtime story in Times Square (New York) and Trafalgar Square (London) respectively.
Schools all over London will be participating and children are going to be sleeping in the School playgrounds and home gardens with make shift beds made from cardboard boxes or tents, there will be soup kitchen before bed and a long night in the elements!
