Fishlake flooded home, South Yorkshire

Yorkshire November 19 (BAN/SL) - The South Yorkshire village Fishlake which was submerged after River Don burst its banks lastweeek has caused devastating disaster with most of the village still remaining underwater today a week later.

A clean up operation is currently on the way in Flshlake, however Doncaster Council said most roads are still impassable due to the flooding and warnings of deep water still standing presenting high risks.

Fishlake Church Warden Peter Pridham called upon members of the public to conitinue donating food and money for the relief effort.

Dan Jarvis said 4,220 homes has been affected in the South Yorkshire flooding leaving a "devastating impact" on communities.

Mohammed Javed from the Bradford community set upa charity AALYA ( always around lending you a ??) hand and is reaching out to everyone to support the Fishlake flooding. They are a totally transparent charity working with volunteers and all funds donated will go every single penny to help the Fishlake flooding community.

AALYA have luanched this emergency appeal for the flooding in Fishlake. They will support families and local people whos properties and lives have been devastated by the flood waters. They are working with St Cuthberts church, Fishlake to try and support them in anyway they can.

Javed from AALYA said "Our volunteers have seen first hand the damage caused and have spoken with residents"

Javed added "I set up the voluntary team, so we could respond to emergencies within Bradford. The work is all voluntary, 100% donation policy. I started a weekend ramadhan food pack but these packs were available to everyone from all ethnicity.

I was and am the last port of call for many organisations who come to a point where they need support. This has been food parcels, furniture, clothes, school uniform, court fees, air tickets etc.

We set up to respond to the needs of the refugee families and have helped and supported 100s of families over the last 5 years.

The funds are raised through friends and family and I have alwags had fantastic support from everyone when funds were required. At present we have raised funds to buy school uniform for 17 refugee children, who would not have been able to start school otherwise.

We have just completed decorating and carpeting a flat for a refugee mother and child who have moved Into permanent accommodation.

We provide 12 vegetarian food parcels every fortnight to the refugee action office. Aalya does two monthly cooked biryani drops to homes of refugee families.

We have raised money for Freedon from torture organisation.

We are really grateful to these organisations for calling upon us for support. We always try to support them the best we can, sometimes it's not possible because of funds but we strive to get the funds.

We work with

Refugee action
Social services
Housing organisations
Freedom for torture
Independent organisations who have heard of our work.

I would like to like to thank everyone who has made this possible over the last 5  years. The individual for helping out, local businesses for donating and discounts, family and friends for always ready to give be it financial, advice, time etc. So many dreams have become realities. This is what make all the hard work worth it. Stay blessed".
