Dhaka, Nov 05 (BAN/ AD): Family members of late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, who was a freedom fighter and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, have said that they will fulfill his last wish ‘of being buried in his motherland’.
Family members have contacted the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York to bring his body back home to Bangladesh. They have said Khoka's body will be buried in Dhaka as per his last wish ‘of being buried in his motherland’.
He was a freedom fighter and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation. Family members are making necessary arrangements to bring his body home.
Khoka’s family said: “We are making arrangements to bring him back home as soon as possible. The consulate here (New York) has agreed to issue travel documents for him and my mother."
Khoka's youngest son Ishfaque Hossain said "As soon as we receive them (travel documents), we will return with him and bury him in his motherland beside his parents." His body will be laid to rest in Dhaka’s Jurain graveyard.
Khoka died on early hours of Monday, while receiving treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
