London, Oct 07 (BAN): Avanti House yet again plays host to the most colourful and grandeur Garba evenings last night. Nearly 600 people and more were seen playing Navratri’s favourite folk dance, Garba, with friends and family. These 6 days have witnessed a constant flow of people who have been here with different eminent guests each day. Friday night had MP for Harrow East, Bob Blackman who was seen enjoying the festivities in an Indian avatar.
Organised by Red Lotus events, the evening also welcomed TV actress and Bharatnatyam dancer, Suhani Dhanki Mody who was thrilled to be amongst her fellow Gujaratis to play Garba here in London. She said, “I have been in London from the past 6 months and I almost thought I would miss out on Garba this year but I am so thankful that I got this opportunity to be here today.” Gujarati singers, Ashish Dave and Preeti Vasani have been constant for these days, gicing ace performances each night.
British Asia News got to speak to MP Blackman who said, “I am very excited to be here to see the whole community come out and celebrate the festival. I have been associated with Harrow for over 30 years and now I can call myself white on the outside and brown on the inside.” We also got a chance to catch up with Councillor Anjana Patel, who has been with Harrow for many many years. She said, “I am very happy to see the next generation become a part of this massive celebration today. I have full faith in them and I know the youngsters will come forward to take our Indian roots forward.”
