Land Rover launches all new Defender off-roader from £40,000

London 10 September 2019 - After much anticipation, the star of the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, is Britain's all new version of the Land Rover Defender. Completely reimagined, whilst i retains its core attributes as a hard-core off-roader it's now also a modern, family-friendly luxury off-roader.

It will be available in three-door 90 and five-door 110 guises with various option packs and prices starting at £40k for the 90 and £45,240 for the 110 with commercial vehicles from £35k (plus VAT) - and the 110 is available to order immediately, followed soon by the short-wheel-base 90.

The new car features a completely new, more modern and rounded design, and new construction - it's now a monocoque structure instead of the body-on-frame style of traditional off-roaders. And yet it retains an instantly recognisable visual identity as a Land Rover Defender.

The Defender 110 offers 5, 6 or 5+2 seating with up to 1,075 litres of load space behind the second row, or 2,380 with the middle seats down. The 90 can accomodate up to six people. There's rubberised floors and a wipe clean interior, an optional canvas roof will also be available.

Configurable terrain response systems will also both expert and novice off-roaders to exploit the car's go-anywhere abilities. There is 291mm of ground clearance with a 38 degree approach angle and 28 degree departure angle. It's maximum wading depth is 900mm. Ground view technology helps you to see the surface under the front of the car.

At launch the it will come with a four-cylinder P300 and six-cylinder P400 petrol engines with mild hybrid electric technology. Diesels will also be available, the D200 and D240 four-cylinder units.
